Women's T&F Finds Success at Kent State

KENT, Ohio -- The Siena Heights women's track team competed in the Kent State Golden Flash Gala against different NCAA Div. I and Div. II schools. The Saints brought home 12 automatic-qualifying performances over two days of competition, Friday and Saturday.

The Saints' high jumpers stole the show, placing first, second and third--all clearing the bar at 5-7 (1.70 meters). Amber Koprin took first via tiebreaker. Koprin hit a new personal-record and automatic-qualifying height. Phoenix Duncan took second while Marissa Johnson took third.

Sheila McKinley and Tasha Mckinley took sixth and seventh, respectively, with an auto height of 12 feet (3.66 meters) in the pole vault. Madison Pierce cleared the vault at 11-6 1/4 (3.51m), an auto performance.

The throwers for SHU brought back five auto performances, two improving from their previous performances. Kasey Renshaw placed first in the weight throw, with an auto distance of 64-7 1/4 (19.69m). She placed sixth in the shot put, throwing an auto distance of 44 feet, 11 1/2 inches (13.70 meters.

Rebecca Cousineau finished seventh in the weight throw, improving to an auto-qualifying 55 feet, 3/4 inches (16.77 meters). Ashley O'Neil finished eighth with an auto distance of 53-7 3/4 (16.35m).

In the shot put, Haley Hudson threw an auto-qualifying distance of 43-8 1/2 (13.32 meters), taking eighth place.

Stephanie Marquart hit an auto time of 9.00 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles event.

Jalesia Johnson finished the 200 meter run in 25.78 seconds. Johnson also ran the 400 meter run, finishing fourth with a time of 59.94 seconds.
