Women's Soccer Opens WHAC Play With Win; Young Now No. 2 on All-Time GWG List

ADRIAN, MICH. -- The Siena Heights women's soccer team opened WHAC play with a 2-1 victory over Northwestern Ohio on Saturday at O'Laughlin Stadium.

Lily Tiplady and Marissa Young scored the goals for SHU (4-0-3, 1-0-0) while goalie Caitlyn Harwood totaled seven saves. Young's goal was the game-winner, giving her sole possession of second place on the Saints' all-time GWG list.

Tiplady's goal came in the 15th minute and Young followed in the 34th to help SHU to a 2-0 halftime lead. Keirra Thompson assisted Young.

UNOH answered with a second-half goal in the 76th minute and then Siena Heights held the rest of the way.

With her goal, Young registered her 16th game-winning goal as a Saint, breaking a tie for second with Taylor Mulder, who had 15 in 2015-18. The record-holder is Nicole Tobin, who totaled 20 in 1997-2000.

Siena Heights will return to action on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. WHAC game at Cornerstone.
