FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Alyssa Fischer and Gia Diaz scored goals as the Siena Heights women's soccer team opened its 2023 season with a 2-0 win over non-conference opponent Saint Francis (Ind.) on Thursday.

Fischer had a goal off a free kick in the 24th minute before Diaz tallied her first collegiate goal in the 88th. The Diaz goal was assisted by Emily Broman.

Caitlyn Harwood had two saves in goal to secure the shutout.

The Saints (1-0) will return to action on Monday with a 5 p.m. road game against Indiana East.
