Saints Score Three Goals in Two Minutes to Claim 3-2 Win Over Lourdes

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Siena Heights women's soccer team scored three goals in two minutes to earn a 3-2 win over Lourdes on Saturday night. The win gives the Saints a 4-2-3 record in conference play for 15 points. The three points earned helps SHU leap UNOH for fourth in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference standings.

The game was scoreless for the first 44:58 of play before Lourdes took a 1-0 lead off a long shot that went off the hands of Caitlyn Harwood (W, 5-2-2).

Like the first period, the score remained unchanged throughout the 45-minute half. Mackenzie Stenzel put SHU on the board in the 82nd minute when she booted a free kick and scored at the far post from 35 yards out. Stenzel repeated the play at 83:05 with another free kick from the same distance to capture a 2-1 lead.

Parker Cheney extended the lead 42 seconds later as the Saints flipped the game in just two minutes of play. A rebound goal for the Grey Wolves moved the deficit to one, but the clock hit zeros before Lourdes could generate a tying opportunity.

Stenzel's two goals are the first multi-goal game of her career. Olivia Emert led Siena Heights with five shots, two of which were on target. Harwood made three saves to earn the win in goal.

Quote from the Coach: "I think our team responded after the bad bounce that gave them a goal with two seconds left. We called on some bench players, who came in and created our scoring chances. I am proud of the girls for not getting discouraged and fighting for a big road win."
