SHU Women’s Soccer Sweeps WHAC Player of the Week Awards

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Siena Heights women's soccer team swept the player of the week awards in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) when the league announced the winners on Monday afternoon. Senior Marissa Young was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while junior Emily Broman was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week.

Young scored her second game-winning goal of the season when she produced the only goal in the 1-0 win over Huntington on Saturday. The senior from Genoa, Ohio, currently leads the team in points (8), goals (4), shots (20), and shots on goal (12).

Broman was a force in last week's opening game when she accounted for an assist on four of the Saints' five goals in the 5-1 thumping of IU Kokomo. Broman now leads the team with six assists on the season and ranks second in points (6) through the first five games of the year.

This is Young's third WHAC player of the week award and the first in Broman's career. These two awards are also the first two of 2022 for the Siena Heights women's soccer team.

The SHU women's soccer team will host Bethel (Ind.) this Wednesday, September 14, at 4:00 p.m.
