Saints March Past IU Kokomo in Home Opener

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's soccer team marched to a 5-1 win over IU Kokomo in the home opener on Wednesday night. The Saints drew first blood with three goals in the first half and never looked back.

Emily Broman used her foot to cause the Cougars fits as she registered assists on four SHU goals. The first was a header off a corner from Broman to Sarah Ammon in the 12th minute. Isabel Remar then took a pass from Broman off a corner in the 19th minute and buried it in the right corner of the net. Ammon returned to head another Broman corner passed the IU Kokomo keeper in the 30th minute to put Siena Heights up by three. The Cougars responded with a goal in the 32nd minute as the teams entered the half with a 3-1 score in favor of the home team.

Erin Tyson added a tally in the 55th minute off another Broman pass, this one a cross into the box. The final goal was from Sophie Zelek off a corner kick from Alyssa Fischer in the 79th minute.

Caitlyn Harwood (W, 1-1) earned her first win in goal for the Saints as she saved three of her four shots faced in her 90-minutes of play.
