SHU Women’s Soccer Loses Tough Battle at Thomas More

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Siena Heights women's soccer team fell 2-1 in a hard-fought battle against Thomas More on Friday night. The game-winning goal came late in the second half, and the Saints couldn't find another tally to even things up before the final horn sounded.

Isabel Remar tallied the lone SHU goal in the 18th minute to give Siena Heights a brief 1-0 lead. Emily Broman dished the assist on the play. Less than one minute later, the host Saints scored a game-tying goal as both teams jostled for momentum.

Katie Carver got the start in goal and played the first half for the Saints. She faced two shots, one of which she saved. Caitlyn Harwood (L, 0-1) played the second half and also faced two shots.

Sophie Zelek and Remar each tallied two shots on a goal in a game where quality chances were at a premium. Neither side faced more than four shots on target, and the final shot tally was 13-6 in favor of Thomas More.

Quote from Coach: "I thought we played well enough to win. I am very proud of our girls' effort and fight. I still believe this team is going places, and this is just adversity that we have to overcome."
