Women's Soccer Eliminated From WHAC Tournament By Aquinas in Semifinals

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's soccer team fell 4-1 to top-seed Aquinas in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) tournament. The Saints finish the season with a 13-5-2 overall record and an 8-3-2 mark in conference play. 

Emily Broman was the lone goal scorer for SHU in the losing effort. Marissa Young tallied the other shot on goal for Siena Heights in the afternoon. Kara Bishop (L, 12-4-2) made five saves in net for the Saints.

Broman tallied the first goal of the game in the first 90 seconds of play. Aquinas knotted things up in the 18th minute before scoring three more times in the first half at the 25, 37, and 42nd-minute marks. The host Saints outshot SHU 16-7 in the contest, including a 10-2 difference in shots on goal. Aquinas also had 11 corner kicks to Siena's one. 

SEASON WRAP UP

The Saints finish the 2021 campaign fourth in the conference standings after winning eight games in league play. Young led the Saints in scoring with 30 points, 15 goals, and eight game-winning goals. Bishop finished the year with 10/2 shutouts and a 12-4-2 record between the posts. Her goals-against average was below one at .61, and her save percentage was .828.
