ADRIAN, Mich. -- A penalty kick in the second half was the difference in the Siena Heights women's soccer 1-0 loss to #12 Aquinas on Wednesday night. Despite the loss, the Saints (11-4-2, 6-3-1 WHAC) remain fourth in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic (WHAC) standings with 19 points.

The Saints struggled to create scoring opportunities on a stout Aquinas defense as they managed only one shot on goal through 90-minutes of play. Marissa Young shot from outside the box, but Tairyn Webb (W, 11-1) thwarted the only scoring chance for SHU. Kara Bishop (L, 10-3-2) saved four of the five shots she faced to keep the Saints in the contest.

Shots were 5-4 in the first half as neither team could put the ball away. The best chance of the half came at 36:21 when a shot by Aquinas bounced off the crossbar and back into play. The visiting Saints outshot Siena Heights 6-1 in the second half, but Bishop continually kept the game scoreless. A foul called on SHU inside the box granted Aquinas a penalty kick at the 56:54 mark. Macy Hollingsworth took the kick for the Saints in maroon and beat Bishop high and right to put the only score on the board.
