Kennedy Hyde Earns First WHAC Defensive Player of the Week Honor of Her Career

Siena Heights freshman Kennedy Hyde was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) women's soccer defensive player of the week by the league office this afternoon.

Hyde had a career week by scoring her first collegiate goals during the Saints 2-0 week of work. She began with two goals in the 6-0 win over Rochester last Wednesday (September 29). She netted her first score to put the Saints up 3-0 and followed that up with another goal just over three minutes later to extend things to 4-0. On Saturday, she assisted on the game-winning goal before scoring the insurance goal in the first half of the 5-0 win over Cleary. Her second goal (4th this year) came in the 59th minute to increase the SHU lead to 4-0. Hyde led the team in points with nine, goals with four, and shot percentage with .667.

This is the first WHAC player of the week award for Hyde's career. This season, it is the third WHAC player of the week award for the SHU women's soccer team (second defensive player of the week honor).

The Saints return to the field on Wednesday, October 6, with a conference match against Michigan-Dearborn at 7:00 p.m. EST.
