ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's soccer team extended its current winning streak to five with a 2-0 shutout win over Thomas More inside of O'Laughlin Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Saints (5-1-1) used two goals in the first half to come away with the victory over TMU (4-2).

Marissa Young scored her fourth game-winning goal of the season while also leading SHU with three shots in the game. Kaleigh Mahaz registered her first assist of the year on Young's goal. She also tallied a shot in the contest. Sarah Ammon put away the insurance score for Siena Heights, her second of the season. Kara Bishop (W, 5-0-1) made two saves between the pipes for SHU to register her fifth-straight shutout of the season. That shutout gives her 15 for her career and moves her into 10th in the career record book in that category.

The game began with both teams playing physically on the defense as neither side was able to develop any worthwhile scoring opportunities. A free kick in the offensive zone for the Saints flipped momentum as Mahaz's ball flew right to Young who headed it into the net in the 30th minute of the game to give SHU the 1-0 lead. Mahaz generating the second scoring opportunity as well, this time with a shot that bounced off the far post and back into the box. In the scramble, Olivia Emert directed the ball toward the opposite side of the net with her shoulder and Ammon tapped it in to score and put Siena Heights up 2-0.

Thomas More pressed in the second half and outshot Siena Heights 6-5 in the period, but Bishop stopped both shots on goal that the visiting Saints generated to preserve the 2-0 lead through 90 minutes. SHU finished ahead in shots (13-9), saves (2-1), and corner kicks (6-2).
