Eleven Saints and Team Honored by NAIA

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2021 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes and NAIA Scholar Team awards.  The Siena Heights Women's Soccer Program had eleven student-athletes and their 2020-2021 team earn these distinctions. 

In order to be nominated for the NAIA Scholar-Athlete, an individual must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport, and have attended two full years as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer.

For a team to be awarded, they must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for the academic year.  The Saints had the fourth highest women's soccer team GPA in the NAIA and the top women's soccer team GPA in the WHAC.  They also finished in the top 30 with the 29th highest GPA for all teams and all sports in the NAIA.

Kara Bishop (2nd time), senior, education major from Allegan, Michigan

Haylie Curtiss (2nd time), senior, criminal justice major from Allegan, Michigan

Mia Dronchi (2nd time), senior, biology major from West Bloomfield, Michigan

Isabel Herden (2nd time), junior, biology major and chemistry minor from Wedel, Germany

Kiley Kaczmarek (2nd time), junior, business administration major from Bay City, Michigan

Macy Llewellyn (2nd time), senior, biology major from La Porte, Indiana

Kaleigh Mahaz (2nd time), senior, business administration major from Canton, Michigan

Jen Richmond (2nd time), senior, biology major from Canton, Michigan

Alexa Scroggie (2nd time), senior, biology major from New Boston, Michigan

Lauren Southworth (2nd time), junior, nursing major from Okemos, Michigan

Ashley Strong (2nd time), senior, criminal justice major from Howell, Michigan

The Saints team was honored with their 12th NAIA Scholar Team Award and 7th straight honor with a 3.77 team GPA.  The award has been an honor for 14 years.
