Saints Top Warriors in WHAC Play On The Road

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Siena Heights women's soccer team topped Indiana Tech 2-0 in a WHAC contest on Saturday afternoon to update their record to 4-4 overall and 3-3 in conference play. Berenice Huette Moncelet led the Saints scoring the game-winning goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Saints set the pace in the first half as they got on board first at the 10:09 mark as Berenice Huette Moncelet found the back of the net as Isabel Remar and Isabel Herden earned the assist. Indiana Tech had an opportunity to score the equalizer as they had two shots on goal in the first half from Bailey Elliott and Allie Pensyl but SHUs defense was solid sending them into the half with a 1-0 lead. 

The second half was a defensive battle as both teams exchanged possessions and Siena edged the Warriors 11 shots to four. Dani Blagojevic had two shots on goal for Indiana Tech but was not able to find the back of the goal to tie the game. A foul on one of the Warriors defenders in the box allowed Marissa Young to take a penalty shot for the Saints that she slotted past Christina Wynn in goal securing the 2-0 win.

TOP SAINTS

Berenice Huette Moncelet and Marissa Young each had a goal.

Isabel Remar and Isabel Herden respectively recorded an assist.

Kara Bishop made two saves in net for the Saints.

THE OPPOSITION

• Christina Wynn led the Warriors between the pipes earning seven saves off of nine shots on goal.

•  Dani Blagojevic tallied two shots on goal.

• Bailey Elliott and Allie Pensyl both earned one shot on goal.

The Saints host WHAC opponent Lawrence Tech on Thursday, March 25th for their final home game of the season. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM
