The Siena Heights women's soccer team finished their 2017 season with an overall record of 12-7-2 while going 6-2-2 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. The women finished the season with a total of 49 goals, averaging 2.33 goals per game. SHU also completed their season with the WHAC Tournament Championship title.
Seniors, Samantha Bartelotti and Emily Burkman earned the title of Most Valuable Player. Bartelotti also earned Second Team All-WHAC and WHAC Scholar-Athlete honors. She finished the season playing in all 21 games, leading the team in goals (12) and assists (7). Burkman, along with her above award, earned First Team All WHAC, WHAC Scholar-Athlete honors, All-Mideast Region Second Team by the United Soccer Coaches and for the third year in a row was named a NAIA Honorable Mention All-American. She finished off her season playing in all 21 games, scoring four goals and having four assists.
Freshmen defenseman, Kaleigh Mahaz earned herself the Most Improved Player award. Mahaz appeared in 13 games, making one assist.
Senior goalkeeper, Meghan Bogg was awarded the title of Unsung Hero. Bogg played in 12 games, had 53 saves, a 1.15 goals against average and a .815 save percentage.
Senior mid-fielder, Erin Scheidel and senior goalkeeper, Taylor Hill both earned the Coach's award. Scheidel was also earned WHAC Scholar-Athlete honors, Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete honors, the National Champion of Character award and, for the third year in a row, to the WHAC Champions of Character Team. She finished the season with two goals and one assist. Hill also earned WHAC Scholar-Athlete honors and Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete honors. She finished the season with 34 saves, a 1.53 goals against average and a .756 save percentage.
As a team the women had five athletes named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes; Taylor Hill, Rachel Sherman, Taylor Mulder and Madison Tedora.
The team also had numerous WHAC honorees, as mentioned above. Joining these women include Paige Rachut who earned Second Team All-WHAC honors and Kaleigh Mahaz and Ashley Strong who earned the All-Newcomer Team. Also earning WHAC Scholar-Athlete honors include: Alexis Gainer, Rachel Sherman, Meghan Bogg, Morgan Siterlet, Kelsey Cheaney, Madison Tedora and Taylor Mulder.
