Bartelotti, Burkman Honored as NAIA All-American Honorable Mention

For the second year in a row, Siena Heights women's soccer players Samantha Bartelotti and Emily Burkman were honored by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) to the All-America Honorable Mention team for the efforts in the 2016 season, as announced on Tuesday.

Leading the Saints' scoring is junior forward Bartelotti who ended the season with 11 goals and five assists. She also led the team in shots, 74, shots on goal, 45, and game-winning goals with three.

Junior center defender Burkman finished out the season with four goals and two assists while leading the strong SHU defense. The Saints allowed only 88 shots on goal and 19 total goals, averaging 0.92 goals against.

Both Bartelotti and Burkman were honored by the WHAC to the 2016 All-Conference First Team.

Siena Heights ended the regular season 11-5-2 overall and 7-3 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. In the regular season, the Saints went 0-0 through regulation, final 1-0 (OT), against WHAC foe and eventual National Champions Northwesten Ohio. Four of the Saints' five losses were from NAIA-ranked opponents.
