Mulder Named WHAC's Newcomer of the Year, Three Saints also on First Team

Freshman forward Taylor Mulder was named Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year while she and three other Saints were honored as All-WHAC First Team, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

Siena Heights had four Saints make First Team All-Conference: Taylor Mulder, Samantha Bartelotti, Danielle Eastman and Emily Burkman.

Sophomore goalkeeper Meghan Bogg was selected as an All-WHAC Honorable Mention.

With the award, Mulder became the first Saint to win the Newcomer of the Year award since its addition to WHAC honors in 2012.

In 2015, Mulder has started all 18 games, ranking first in the WHAC in goals (16), game-winning goals (6) and points (39). She ranks second on the team in assists (7). The Saints will have the opportunity to update those totals in the upcoming WHAC Tournament.

Bartelotti has started in 14 matches and competed in 15. She has compiled seven goals, including two game-winning goals, and five assists in the 2015 season thus far.

Eastman has started in all 18 matches. She has scored eight goals and has a team leading nine assists.

Burkman has also started in all 18 games. She anchored a SHU defense that has recorded 12 shutouts and a 0.60 goals-against average thus far.

Bogg has started in 10 competitions, earning the win in all of them, allowing only two goals. She is leading the WHAC and NAIA with a 0.20 goals-against average. Bogg is also leading the WHAC in save percentage (.943) and shutouts (8).

Also for the Saints, sophomore midfielder Erin Scheidel was selected to the WHAC Champions of Character Team.

A total of 8 Saints were recognized on the Academic All-WHAC Team. That group included Jessica Behnke and Madison Phillips, both two-time honorees; juniors Morgan Behn, Gabi Corbin, Emily Loar, Kelsey Schoenberger; and redshirt-sophomores Alexis Gainer and Brittany Trout.

Behnke and Gainer are biology majors while Schoenberger is a nursing major. Corbin is a mathematics major and Trout is a sport management major.

Future educators may include Phillips, a secondary education major; Behn, a special education major; and Loar, an early education major.
