INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Randy Frailey became the first Siena Heights men's wrestler to win a WHAC individual championship as he placed first in the 133-pound weight class during the WHAC Championships on Saturday.
Frailey won three straight matches to claim the 133 title. By doing so, he also became the first Saint male to earn All-WHAC First Team honors. SHU had not had an honoree on the First or Second Teams until Frailey.
Frailey began his day with a 19-2 technical fall over Cornerstone's Thomas Zielinski. The semifinal was much closer was Frailey decisioned Anthony Hughes (Marian), 4-1. The win against the NAIA-18th-ranked Hughes avenged an earlier loss when Hughes took a major over Frailey in dual action.
In the championship match, Frailey won via major decision against Lourdes' Cole McKinley, 9-1.
Christian DeLuna had a fourth-place finish for SHU in the 197 class after finishing with a 2-2 record.
