Women's Lacrosse Overcomes Slow Start For Win Over Bethel (Ind.)

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's lacrosse team overcame a slow start to take an 18-8 victory over WHAC opponent Bethel (Ind.) on Thursday at O'Laughlin Stadium.

Jenna Allie totaled five goals, one assist and four draw controls for the Saints (4-6, 3-2), who fell behind 3-0 before going on a 10-goal run.

Avah Holland added four goals and Hannah Merrick sent in three. Emily Pringle and Sophia Baugh scored two goals apiece while Kallei Brown and Ava Lazaareschi added one apiece.

Single assists were recorded by Pringle and Abbey Scott. Lazzareschi contributed four grondballs and three caused turnovers. Pringle controlled nine draws.

Lucy Stedam earned the win in goal, totaling eight saves.

The Saints appeared to be headed for a long afternoon when Bethel scored the game's first three tallies. SHU evened the score at 3-3 after one quarter before taking a 9-3 edge into halftime. It held a comfortable lead the rest of the way.

Isabell Gerbrand led Bethel (6-6, 3-2) with four goals.

Siena Heights will play next on Saturday when it visits Lawrence Tech for a 1 p.m. WHAC game.
