Women's Lacrosse Playing in Honor of 12-Year-Old Cancer Fighter on Saturday

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's lacrosse team will play in honor of a member of its extended family on Saturday when Marian visits O'Laughlin Stadium for a noon draw.

Reagan Cusmano, the 12-year-old cousin of Saints sophomore Sophia Baugh, was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer in late 2022. Reagan had experienced what was thought to be growing pains before an MRI revealed a tumor on her femur.

Reagan began chemotheraphy treatments in November and, by December, new image scans recealed that the tumor had shrunk by 40 percent. Then, in January, Reagan had surgery to remove the tumor and then resumed chemotherapy.

Once Reagan gets through her final courses of chemotherapy, she plans to begin rehab on her leg so she can get back to her favorite sport, equestrian.

Reagan lives in Romeo with her parents, Todd and Rachel, and two older brothers, Caleb and Luke. She is a 4H Club member and competes with the Romeo Equestrian Team and the United States Eventing Association. Reagan's teammate in the ring is her horse Buzz. When she's not with Buzz, she is spending time with her golden doodle puppy, J.J.

"Reagan is fierce, brave and so very strong," her cousin Sophia said. "She has incredible parents and brothers. She also has an army of family, friends and even strangers sending her love, prayers and support every day."

During Reagan's gameday of honor, the Saints will wear yellow, the color for bone cancer awareness, and pink, Reagan's favorite color.
