Marissa Cirino Named NAIA All-America First Team

KANSAS CITY – Siena Heights senior Marissa Cirino was named to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-America First Team in women's lacrosse when the national office announced the teams on Monday (May 9) afternoon.

Cirino adds this award to her growing number of awards this season, including WHAC Midfielder of the Year, First-Team All-WHAC, and WHAC All-Academic. In addition, the senior from Canton, Michigan, was named WHAC offensive player of the week twice, IWLCA co-offensive player, and the defensive player once.

Cirino led the Saints with 79 points, 51 goals, 28 assists, 16-30 free positions, 60 ground balls, 129 draw controls, and 40 caused turnovers. The senior midfielder became the Saints' career points leader during the Bethel game on March 30 and set a new program record for draw controls in a game with 14.

"Marissa is a great player, teammate, and leader," said women's lacrosse head coach Alexa Matta. "Marissa is so deserving to be named a 2x All-American during her career here at SHU. All the hard work, dedication, and love for this team and sport paid off. We are going to miss having #2 on the field for us next season."

The 2022 NAIA Women's Lacrosse All-America consists of two teams comprised of 15 members each. The selections are made by the NAIA All-America committee.
