Cirino Claims Career Goals Record as Saints Win 23-11 in WHAC Game Over the Bethel

ADRIAN, Mich. – Wednesday, March 30th, the Siena Heights Saints women's lacrosse team competed against Bethel College in a Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) game. SHU caught the back of the net 23 times in their victory over the Pilots, making the final score 23-11. With this win, Siena becomes 4-6 overall and 2-2 in the WHAC.

Marissa Cirino led the home team by netting six goals and tallying four assists for 10 points. Her six goals put her on top of the program's career record list for goals with 190. Cirino also registered five caused turnovers and picked up six ground balls. Madison Spell scored six goals shooting 6-for-10 on the night while collecting four ground balls. Emily Pringle (4-for-5) added four points to the board for the Saints. Alexis Kuhns (3-for-4) sunk three balls in the back of the net, tallied one assist and one ground ball. Both Catherine Androwski (2-for-4) and Courtney Frankfurth scored twice for SHU. Goalie Emily Durr (W, 1-0) saved 11 balls for Siena Heights.

The Navy and Yellow outscored the visiting Bethel Pilots in the first quarter, holding the Pilots to only five goals. Cirino was the first Saint to score and tied up the game 1-1 at the 14:00 minute mark. Bethel would regain the lead going up two goals to one, until Spell started a three-goal run propelling SHU back into the lead.

In the second quarter, the home team dominated, by netting six balls, to jump into a 12-6 lead. Bethel would score first at the beginning of the third only 45 seconds into the quarter. SHU responded by going on a five-point run which included goals from Spell, Cirino, Frankfurth, Kuhns, and Pringle, all unassisted.

Bethel would score twice in the middle of the final quarter to reach double digits. Although, Siena did not let up and sunk four more goals to finish the game with a 12 point lead and a 23-11 final tally.
