No. 9 SHU Wins 20-5

Adrian, MICH. – Siena Heights nets another conference win on Saturday, March 26th, over the Lourdes University Gray Wolves. The Saints add to their record, becoming 2-1 in conference play and 3-5 overall. The home team saw a 20-5 victory in their second home game of the 2022 season.

Marissa Cirino scored six goals, shooting 6 for 7, collecting three assists and three ground balls. Courtney Frankfurth caught the back of the net five out of her six shots on goal. Alexis Nicole helped SHU by adding three points to the board and picking up one ground ball. Emily Pringle netted two points while assisting on four goals and claiming two ground balls. Hannah Merrick put up two points as well as two assists, and Madison Spell tallied two goals and one groundball. Sophomore goalie Lucy Stedam saved four balls for Siena.

The opening quarter started with a strong showing from the home team as they found the back of the net six times and held the visiting Gray Wolves to only one goal. SHU would go on to extend their lead in the second quarter making the score 10-3.

Lourdes opened the third quarter with another goal from Lourdes University's Amelia McCourt. Siena Heights responded with a run of four started by Spell near the twelve-minute mark. The quarter ended with a last-second goal from Frankfurth, making the score 16-4

The fourth quarter saw an additional four goals from the home team. Cirino hit her 25th goal of the season, at the 8-minute mark, while Frankfurth sank her 15th goal of the season with only four minutes left to play. Merrick would be the final score for Siena, as the clock struck zero, leaving the final score 20-5.
