Saints Fall to 2nd-Ranked Cumberlands on the Road

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- The Siena Heights women's lacrosse team fell to the 2nd-ranked University of the Cumberlands Patriots on Saturday afternoon. Emily Pringle (So. | Southfield, Mich.) scored two goals for the Saints.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Patriots took a 3-0 lead within the first eight minutes of the game as Rachel Leigh scored as Bella Ricchiazzi had the assist. Rachel Leigh scored against and Florence Andrieu earned the assists. Reegan Hensley found the back of the net from a pass by Carolina Johnson. The Saints cut the deficit to two points as Marissa Cirino (Jr. | Canton, Mich.) netted the ball at the 22:19 mark. Cumberlands scored two more goals from Bella Ricchiazzi and Emily Heim. Pringle earned her first goal of the game for SHU at the 18:42 mark to update the score to 5-2. Bella Ricchiazzi scored two more goals as Emily Heim assisted one of them to send the game into halftime with them in the lead 7-2.

Siena started off the second half with Pringle recording her second goal of the game with 25:55 left on the clock. Bella Ricchiazzi scored her fourth goal of the game that sparked seven-straight goals for the Patriots as they pulled ahead 14-3. Alexis Nicole (Sr. | Portage, Mich.) scored the final goal of the game for the Saints from a pass by Cirino at the 12:40 mark. Cumberlands went on to score four more goals in the remainder of the second half to secure them the 18-4 win. 

TOP SAINTS

• Pringle also contributed seven shots, five of which were on goal and one groundball. 

• Cirino had a goal and an assist on the game. She also recorded five shots, one ground ball, three draw controls, and one caused turnover.

• Nicole tallied a goal, two shots, and three groundballs. 

Elizabeth Elliott (Sr. | Canton, Mich.) made 18 saves on the 30 shots she faced in net for SHU.

THE OPPOSITION

• Bella Ricchiazzi led the Patriots with seven goals and two assists. 

• Rachel Leigh earned three goals and two assists. 

• Florence Andrieu tallied two goals and three assists. 

• Olivia McCarrell had six saves off of ten shots between the pipes for Cumberlands.
