#4 Women's Lacrosse Defeats Marian (Ind.)

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The No. 4 Siena Heights women's lacrosse team traveled to take on Marian (Ind.) on Sunday in a non-conference contest. The Saints came away with the 20-11 victory. 

SHU (5-2 overall) scored the first three goals of the game but the Knights (4-3 overall) eventually tied the score at four a piece in the first half. Late in the first half, Marian scored four straight goals and went into halftime leading 8-7. 

To begin the second half, Siena Heights scored six straight and put themselves back on top, 13-8. Later in the half, SHU went on another 5-0 run to pull away and earn the victory.

Jenna Sommerville led the Saints with seven goals and Natalie Williams added four. Taylor Swartz finished with six assists for SHU. Lizzy Elliott and Mariah Smythe split the contest in goal, with Elliott getting the start and allowing eight goals and making two saves. Smythe allowed three goals and make three saves. 

For Marian, Breanna DeJong and Kori Garland each contributed three goals. Reagan Riddle dished out two assists. Casey Monahan suffered the loss in goal allowing 20 goals and making 16 saves. 

Next up, the Saints will host Ursuline (Ohio) on Wednesday, Mar. 21. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
