No. 10 Women's Lacrosse Season Outlook With Head Coach Hill

The No. 10 nationally ranked Siena Heights women's lacrosse team will open it's season on Friday, Feb. 2 against Cleary. The game will take place at 2:30 p.m., indoors at the Legacy Center in Brighton, Mich. 

After speaking with Head Coach Cindy Hill, she mentioned the high expectations for the Saints this season. She states, "right now in our pre season poll, we are ranked No. 10 nationally. We look to be in the top eight, maybe top five this season. We have an awesome offensive team and a very good defensive team. This year should be our year to go to nationals." 

Siena Heights will combine a solid mixture of returning players and newcomers to help them to success this season. Key returners are Kayla Parks and Marissa Cirino. Both were named to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference second team last season.

Parks led the team with 61 goals last season and added 11 assists. Cirino was the second leading scorer for the Saints, chipping in 46 goals and a team second best, 22 assists. Coach Hill mentioned both athletes as being offensive and defensive threats. SHU will also return starters, Natalie Williams, Taylor Swartz, Katherine Tapia, Samantha Pawlowski, Mackenzie Fisette and Hannah Argue.

Newcomers for the Saints, include defender Reilly Winn, Lexi Nicole, Jenna Sommerville and goal keepers, Lizzy Elliott and Mariah Smythe.

Coach Hill discusses protecting their sticks and winning the ground battle as keys to helping the Saints defeat strong, nationally ranked oppenents throughout the season. 

Siena Heights will kick off the 2018 season on Friday, Feb. 2 at 2:30 p.m. against Cleary at the Legacy Center in Brighton, Mich.
