Three Saints Earn All-WHAC Honorable Mention

Senior Sabrina Snow and Sophomores Kayla Parks and Karley Engelsman were honored as All-Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Honorable Mention performers as announced by the league recently.

Senior midfielder Snow has played in all of the Saints 17 games this season. She has compiled 19 goals and seven assists to earn 26 points for Siena. Snow scored her game high four goals in 18-8 victory over Saint Mary (Kan.) on March 11.

Snow has picked up 34 ground balls, 36 draw controls and caused 19 turnovers.

Parks is a midfielder for the Saints. She had a successful year, harnessing 38 goals after starting in all 17 games for SHU. Parks scored in fifteen goals, averaging 2.24 goals per game. She also added three assists to total 41 points on the season. Parks tallied a game-high seven goals in the 14-12 victory over Lourdes (Ohio) on March 30.

Defensively, Parks picked up 66 ground balls and caused 18 turnovers. She also earned the WHAC Defensive Player of the Week award on March 14, 2016.

Engelsman is a defender for the Saints, playing in 16 matches in the 2016 season. Overall, she has picked up 45 groundballs and caused 24 turnovers. Engelsman earned a game-high five caused turnovers and eight groundballs in 10-9 OT victory against Charleston (W.V.) on March 21, where she also scored the game-tying goal to send the Saints into overtime.

Seniors Margaret Hern, Snow and Sydney VanHoose were awarded to the All-WHAC Academic Team. Hern is a criminal justice major and psychology minor, opposite of Snow who is a psychology major and criminal justice minor while VanHoose majors in special education with an elementary education minor.

Juniors Tabitha Ferguson, Beth Giguere and Aliisa Mason also earned All-WHAC Academic Team honors by having a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, and by being a junior or higher in academic standing. Ferguson is an art major with a psychology minor wile Mason majors in psychology. Giguere is an accounting major.

Freshman defender Megan Byers was named to the WHAC Champions of Character Team.

Siena Heights Head Coach Cindy Hill was awarded as the WHAC Champions of Character Coach for the 2016 women's lacrosse season.
