Parks Scores Four in Women's Lax Overtime Thriller

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Kayla Parks scored four goals for the Siena Heights women's lacrosse team in a 10-9 overtime win against non-conference opponent Charleston (W.V.), on Monday.

Siena Heights (4-3) started the scoring first when Parks scored on an assist from Taylor Swartz. Scoring went back-and-forth in the first half. The Saints were trailing going into half time 5-6.

Aliisa Mason tied it up 6-6 for the Saints with 28:25 remaining on the clock, then Parks and Swartz scored and assisted another goal for SHU going up 7-8. The Golden Eagles tied it up two more times until they took the lead 9-8 with only 9:03 remaining in regulation. With 2:46 left on the clock, Karley Engelsman finished an unassisted shot to send the Saints into overtime.

There were a flurry of fouls in overtime, earning a yellow card to the visiting Golden Eagles (1-5) that put the Saints a man-up. Sabrina Snow found the back of the net from a Kayla Parks pass to earn the win for SHU.

Along with Parks four goals, Mason added two while Haley Parker, Alysa Grove, Snow and Engelsman each tallied one goal. Swartz earned two assists for Siena.

Alyssa Hopkins stopped seven shots between the pipes for SHU. For the Golden Eagles, Catherine Clawson made 16 saves.

Charleston was led in scoring by Nicole Purcell with three goals. Peyton Harris and Aryanna Jones each added two goals for the Golden Eagles.

Grove and Englesman lead the Saints defense with nine and eight groundballs, respectively.

Next up, the Saints will take on Indiana Tech at home on Wednesday. The conference contest is set for a 7 p.m. start-time.
