Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past Lindenwood-Belleville

BELLEVILLE, Ill. -- The Siena Heights women's lacrosse team cruised past Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) 19-5 in a non-conference contest on Saturday.

The Saints' Kayla Parks scored in the second minute of the game only for the Lyncs' India Cyr to comeback with a goal in the fourth minute.

Siena Heights went on to score seven more goals in the first half compared to LU-Belleville's one, leading 8-2 going into halftime.

SHU continued to dominate the second half, outscoring the Lyncs 11-3.

Alysa Grove and Aliisa Mason each scored four goals for the Saints and Kayla Parks put-in three goals of her own while adding the game-high 12 groundballs. Taylor Swartz and Sabrina Snow added two goals apiece, Snow also grabbing 10 groundballs.

Finishing with solo goals were Sydney VanHoose, Alyssa Hopkins, Sam Powlowski and Haley Parker. Parker also earned three assists during the game.

Goaltender Tabitha Ferguson stopped three shots for the Saints. LU-Belleville's Cassidy Mundwiller started the game in goal, allowing 12 goals and stopping eight shots. Sophia Honig relieved her in the 37th minute. Honig made two saves and allowed seven goals.

The Saints outshot the Lyncs, 33-12, and won 16 draw-controls compared to LU-Belleville's seven.

Next up, the Saints will play in their home-opener against conference opponent Lawrence Tech. The game is set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
