Men's And Women's Golf Serve the Southeast Michigan Community

Plymouth, Mich. -- The Siena Heights Men's and Women's golf programs traveled to Fox Hills Golf Club just outside of Detroit, to help the First Tee Program. For the first time in program history, the Siena Heights Golf Programs participated in The First Tee Program, and Coach Andrew Ioanou wants to make this a yearly tradition for his program to be involved with the First Tee Program. Ioanou, who grew up in the Metro Detroit area, wanted to give back to the Detroit community because getting involved with programs like the first tee, allow for the game of golf to grow. "Growing the game and giving back to the community in one event seemed like a good idea." This is because Ioanou believes that helping younger kids get interested in the game of golf with all demographics is better for the game of golf moving forward.

Ioanou spread his word to down to his players and got his players to believe in spreading the love of the game to others. Ioanou mentioned that his players all stayed on campus even during Fall Break to help younger kids get involved in the game of golf. Ioanou believes that with his players staying over fall break, will help grow the game pf golf in the future.
