Women's Golf Finishes Fifth at Trine Spring Classic

ANGOLA, Ind. -- On Saturday afternoon, the Siena Heights women's golf team finished fifth at the Trine Spring Classic at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana. The Saints had three top-25 individual finishes and compiled a team score of 357 to claim the fifth spot in the team standings. 

NCAA Division III member Hope College finished first in the tournament with a team score of 322. Fellow NCAA DIII school Calvin was second with a 331 while Kalamazoo--also NCAA DIII--had a 340 for third. Host Trine edged SHU with 350 while Olivet (361) and Cornerstone (374) were behind the Saints. Grace College claimed eighth with a 378, while two additional Trine squads finished off the team table with scores of 395 and 440.

Skylar Whitman led the way for SHU with a third-place showing in the individual standings after her round of 80 strokes. Whitman tied for the best score (E) on par 3 holes. She tied for the most birdies in the round with two and finished with the fourth-most parts with seven. Chelsea Kovoch tied for 19th with a final score of 90 on the day. She finished with five pars in the afternoon. Bethany Nowak tallied a 91 to tie for 23rd. Isabelle Sparks tied for 36th with her result of 96 strokes to round out the scoring for the Saints.
