Women's Golf Finishes Tied for Fifth at WHAC Preview

AUGUSTA, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's golf team finished fifth in stroke play on day one of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Preview held at Stonehedge Golf Course in Augusta, Michigan. The Saints totaled 345 as a team to tie with Lawrence Tech for the first part of the tournament. Following stroke play, the teams were seeded based on the finishes and then competed in match play against an opponent on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. 

Northwestern Ohio finished atop the team standings with a 317 for the round. Aquinas was five strokes behind with a 322 for second place. Indiana Tech registered a 326 for third place while Madonna had a 338 for fourth. The Blue Devils and Saints tied for fifth ahead of seventh-place Michigan-Dearborn with a 346. Cornerstone was eighth with a 354. Lourdes (357) and Cleary (359) rounded out the team standings for the tournament.

Bethany Nowak led the way for the Saints with a fifth-place showing in the individual standings with her final score of 79. Megan Paczac and Skylar Whitman tied for 25th with an 87. Chelsea Kovoch shot a 92 for a tie at 38th. Isabelle Sparks finished with a 96 for a tie at 46th.

Up Next

The Saints return to action on Monday, October 11 for the Lourdes Invitational at Sylvania Country Club in Sylvania, Ohio. The tournament is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
