Women's Golf Starts Season With a Third-Place Showing at Adrian College Invitational

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's golf team debuted with a third-place finish at the Adrian College Invitational on Thursday afternoon (Sept. 24). The Saints combined for a team score of 353 to secure the third-place spot in the 18-hole tournament held at the Lenawee Country Club. Dakota Spears (Senior, Hudsonville, Mich.) led the team with an 84-stroke round (+13) to tie for second in the individual standings. Spears led all golfers with a -4 Par-5 score and tied for the second-most birdies with three and fifth-most pars with four. She also was one of 10 student-athletes to score an eagle on the day while.

Jaclyn Fanola (Senior, Monroe, Mich.) was one stroke behind Spears for fourth place with a score of 85 (+14). She was tied for second in Par-3 scoring with a +7, third in Par-4 scoring (+7), and tied for third-most birdies with three. Megan Paczac (Freshman, St. Clair Shores, Mich.) tied for 10th with a score of 91 (+20) in her collegiate debut. Statistically, she led all golfers with eight pars in the round while finishing +9 in Par-3 scoring (T-13th), +12 Par-4 scoring (T-18th), and -1 in Par-5 (T-6th). Fourth on the team was Bethany Nowak (Sophomore, Britton, Mich.) with a score of  93 (+22, T-18th). She was one par short of tying Paczac for the most in the round while also tying for third in Par-4 scoring with a +7. Rounding out the SHU women's team score was Sorina Grech (Senior, Rochester Hills, Mich.) with a 99 (+28). She tallied a +9 in Par-3 scoring and recorded four pars in the tournament.

Siena Heights also had four student-athletes participate as individuals at the invitational. Mya Price (Senior, South Lyon, Mich.) scored a 92 (+20), Chelsea Kovoch (Junior, Rockwood, Mich.) had a 99 (+28), Emma Murphy (Freshman, Grand Rapids, Mich.) finished with a 107 (+36), and Lindsey Darby (Sophomore, Perry, Mich.) recorded a 113 (+42).

The Saints women's golf team will continue the season on Saturday, September 26 with a trip to the Washtenaw Golf Course in Ypsilanti, Michigan for the Lawrence Tech Invitational.
