Barry Helps Women's Bowling to 41st of 66 Finish

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Siena Heights women's bowling team placed 41st out of 66 teams at the 47th annual Hoosier Classic, widely regarded as the most prestigious bowling tournament of the regular-season, which took place at Western Bowl in Indianapolis, Ind on Saturday and Sunday.

The Saints finished with a 7,483 total pin-fall over the course of nine team-games, compiling and individual game average of 166.29. The eight team match-play cut was 8,621, which the Saints missed by 1,138 pins.

With the eight team match-play cut standing at an average team game of 957.89, the Saints couldn't keep up with the rapid pace, recording an average team game of 831.44.

Amanda Barry was the top-finisher for SHU, placing 114th individually with a nine-game total of 1,529 (169.89 average).

Also for the Saints, Myriah Hamilton compiled a seven-game total of 1,255 (179.29 average), which included a 200 and 233 game.

Katelyn Simpson of Pikeville (Ky.) placed first individually, compiling a nine-game total of 1,966 (218.44).

Wichita State (Kan.) won the tournament, defeating Newman (Kan.) in the finals 4-2 in a best of seven series.

The Hoosier Classic marked the end of the regular season for collegiate bowling, as this Wednesday the United States Bowling Congress will announce the top-64 women's bowling programs that have qualified for USBC sectional play, where teams will have a chance to advance to the Intercollegiate Team Championships April 20-23 in Wichita, Kan.

In the latest rankings, the Saints were ranked 54th in the nation out of 127 programs.

The Saints will begin their post-season schedule at the American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference championships this Saturday at Westland Bowl in Westland, Mich.
