Women’s Bowling Finishes 1-2 at WHAC Championships

CANTON, Mich. – The Siena Heights women's bowling team posted a 1-2 record at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships at Super Bowl in Canton, Mich., getting knocked out in the second round of the losers bracket.

The tournament was double-elimination style, with teams being seeded one through eight based on WHAC regular-season standings. Siena started the day as the number six seed.

In the first match, the Saints went up against number three seed Indiana Tech. The Warriors had their way, sweeping SHU 3-0 by scores of 197-187, 210-155 and 159-154 to send the Saints to the losers bracket.

Next up for the Saints was number seven seed Cornerstone.

After falling behind 1-0 after a 190-133 loss to the Golden Eagles, the Saints rallied back to take the series 3-1 behind wins of 207-144, 179-171 and 221-163.

In the second round of the losers bracket, the Saints were sent packing following a 3-0 sweep at the hands number four seed Northwestern Ohio by defeats of 189-132, 200-148 and 201-184.

The number one seeded and WHAC regular season champions Lawrence Tech Blue Devils went on to win the tournament, defeating the number two seed Concordia Cardinals in the finals 3-2.

The Saints will join 65 other women collegiate bowling teams Feb. 19-21 when they compete in the 47th annual Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, Ind., widely regarded as the biggest regular season tournament in college bowling.
