Women's Basketball Visits #16 Indiana Tech in WHAC Finals

HEAD COACH: Sue Syljebeck is in her 20th season as the head coach of the Saints women's basketball program. She is the program's winningest coach with a career record of 386-231. Syljebeck currently ranks 20th on the NAIA Women's basketball active coach wins list. She will be assisted this year by Deb Ray, Sara Chrenko, Niesha Lowe, Mo Rammuny, Dan Brooks and Tee Watters.
 
 
WINS IN 27 OF 28: The Saints have won nine straight games and 27 of 28 after their WHAC Tournament quarterfinal and semifinal wins last week.
 
SHU defeated Lawrence Tech, 61-45, in the quarterfinals. Kayla Hinton led the way for the Saints (26-3) with 17 points, nine rebounds and four steals while Jakarri Alven finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. E'Moni Guice-Finch had 11 points off the bench. E'Anna Won grabbed nine rebounds and Olivia DeLong totaled nine points and two blocks.
 
In the semifinals, the Saints held off Concordia for a 70-64 victory. Hinton scored 22 points and Brooke Rebman put in 12. Won added 11 points and nine rebounds while DeLong contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.

RECENT MEETINGS

Siena Heights vs. Indiana Tech

SHU lost both matchups against Indiana Tech this season. The Saints lost their home opener to Indiana Tech, 48-41. on Nov. 11. Hinton led the Saints with a double-double, finishing with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Won added nine points and seven rebounds while leading rebounder DeLong grabbed nine boards.

Hinton led the Saints (18-3, 13-2) with 26 points while Guice-Finch contributed 12. Won added 10 points and DeLong grabbed eight rebounds.

Season sweeps have highlighted the SHU/Tech rivalry the past two seasons. The Saints won both meetings between the schools in 2022-23. Before that, Indiana Tech went 2-0 against SHU in 2021-22.
