Women's Basketball Wrapping Up Regular Season With Road Games at LTU, UMD

THIS WEEK IN SHU WOMEN'S HOOPS

SIENA HEIGHTS (23-3, 18-2) at LAWRENCE TECH (11-15, 9-11), Wednesday, 5:30 p.m.

HEAD COACH: Sue Syljebeck is in her 20th season as the head coach of the Saints women's basketball program. She is the program's winningest coach with a career record of 382-231. Syljebeck currently ranks 20th on the NAIA Women's basketball active coach wins list. She will be assisted this year by Deb Ray, Sara Chrenko, Niesha Lowe, Mo Rammuny, Dan Brooks and Tee Watters.
 
 
WINS IN 21 OF 22: The Saints have won five straight games and 23 of 24 after winning a pair of road games last week.

A double-double by Olivia DeLong helped the Siena Heights women's basketball team to an 84-72 victory over Rochester on Wednesday.

DeLong finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Jillian Gelso added 18 points while Kayla Hinton provided an all-round effort of 16 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and six steals. Jakarri Alven totaled 14 points, six rebounds and two blocks.

On Saturday, Hinton scored 23 points to lead the Saints to a 75-59 win on Senior Day over Concordia.

Hinton also had five rebounds and three assists for the Saints. Alven added 10 points and six rebounds while E'Moni Guice-Finch put in 11 points.

RECENT MEETINGS

Siena Heights vs. Lawrence Tech

The Saints have won their last five matchups against Lawrence Tech, including a home win over the Blue Devils earlier this season.

Kayla Hinton led the Saints (14-2, 9-1) with 17 points, six steals and four assists while E'Anna Won finished with 15 points and eight rebounds.

Also for SHU, Olivia DeLong had 10 points, nine rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Jakarri Alven hauled down nine rebounds.

LTU's last win in the series was a 66-57 contest on Feb. 7, 2021.

 

 

Siena Heights vs. Michigan-Dearborn

SHU has won three straight games against UMD, including an 82-55 victory against the Wolverines earlier this year.

Eva Alcock was the Saints' leading scorer with 16 points and six rebounds. Jillian Gelso added 15 points while Jakarri Alven finished with 11 points and six rebounds.

Also for SHU (13-2, 8-1), Kayla Hinton grabbed eight rebounds and Olivia DeLong finished with two blocks and two steals.

 

Dearborn's last win in the series was 69-57 on Feb. 5, 2022.
