Banks Becomes First SHU Women's Hoops Player With 2,000 Points in Win over Madonna

LIVONIA, Mich. -- Peyton Banks became the first Siena Heights women's basketball player to reach 2,000 career points in a career as the Saints defeated Madonna, 78-40, in WHAC action on Wednesday.

Banks, who entered the game with 1,999 career points, finished with 11 and now has 2,010 for time at SHU. She also had seven rebounds in the win.

Sha'kyia Parker was Siena Heights' leading scorer with 17 points.

The Saints (18-4, 11-3) opened the game on a 7-2 run and continued to build on the advantage through the first half.

Leading 12-8, SHU outscored the Crusaders 28-5 until the intermission to take a 40-13 lead into halftime. The Saints had runs of 12, nine and seven points in that stretch.

Parker scored 12 of her points in the first half, connecting on four 3-pointers.

The Saints' largest lead was 69-27 early in the fourth quarter.

Delani Robinson was Madonna's leading scorer with 11 points off the bench.

Siena Heights will return to action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. WHAC game against Michigan-Dearborn.
