Women's Hoops Loses OT Heartbreaker To Concordia

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team lost a heartbreaker to Concordia on Wednesday night, dropping a 76-73 contest in overtime at the SHU Fieldhouse.

Sha'kyia Parker led the Saints with 22 points while Kayla Hinton added 15 points. Peyton Banks finished with 10 points and nine rebounds while Olivia DeLong grabbed six rebounds.

Siena Heights was unable to hold off a second-half rally by Concordia. The Saints had led by as many as 13 points before the Cardinals chipped away.

CUAA went on a seven-point run in the fourth quarter to take a 59-55 lead. Siena Heights answered with a 5-0 stretch to go ahead, 60-59.

The Cardinals regained a 61-60 edge on a layup by Taylor Leatherman and held a 63-61 lead with six seconds remaining. Hinton ran the floor and made a buzzer-beating layup to force overtime.

In the extra period, Concordia jumped out to a 71-65 lead, but Siena Heights still had an answer. A layup by Brooke Rebman forged the game's final tie at 73-73.

On Concordia's next possession, Samantha Dorn made a go-ahead layup and free throw. SHU's next possession ended on a desperation half-court toss by Banks which missed the mark.

Leatherman was CUAA's leading scorer with 22 points. Julia Hirt added 17 points and six rebounds.

The Saints will return to action on Saturday with a 5 p.m. WHAC home tip-off against Aquinas.
