Women's Basketball's Quick Start Leads To Win Over Lawrence Tech

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team opened with a nine-point run and led the entire way in its 72-55 win over WHAC opponent Lawrence Tech on Saturday.

Sha'kyia Parker led the Saints with 22 points and five rebounds while Kayla Hinton added 19 points, six rebounds and four assists. Peyton Banks compiled a double-double worth 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Jillian Gelso made nine rebounds and Olivia DeLong had six.

SHU connected on its first four field-goal attempts, starting with consecutive two-pointers by E'Anna Won, Eva Alcock and Hinton. Banks finished that early run with a 3-pointer.

The Saints increased their advantage with an 11-0 streak in the second quarter. This time, Parker had eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Hinton also had a trey.

After taking a 39-25 edge into halftime, Siena Heights enjoyed an 8-0 run to begin the second half. SHU had its largest lead, 62-37, in the third quarter.

Kendall Fisher was the top scorer for the Blue Devils (6-11, 3-6) with 23 points and eight rebounds. Kate Jacobs finished with a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds.

The Saints (14-3, 7-2) will be back in action this weekend with a pair of home games, starting with a 6 p.m. WHAC contest against Concordia on Wednesday.
