Women's Hoops Upsets #19 Saint Francis (Ill.)

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Tournament MVP Peyton Banks finished with 18 points and nine rebounds as the Siena Heights women's basketball team defeated 19th-ranked Saint Francis (Ill.) on Friday night at the SHU Fieldhouse.

Sha'kyia Parker added 12 points and E'Anna Won totaled 10 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals. Both joined Banks on the All-Tournament Team along with SFU's Jordan Pyle and Indiana East's Addie Brown.

The Saints (12-3) were the tournament champions with a 2-0 record. Saint Francis was 1-1 and IU East finished 0-2.

Olivia DeLong added seven rebounds and Kayla Hinton dished four assists during SHU's win on Friday.

Siena Heights trailed 14-10 early in the second quarter before taking the lead for good with a nine-point run. Banks had five points in that surge.

SHU's largest lead came at the end of the third quarter when Jillian Gelso connected on a 3-pointer to put the Saints up 49-36.

The Fighting Saints trimmed their deficit to 55-50 with 4:33 remaining on a basket by Pyle. That was the last field goal of the game.

Pyle was SFU's leading scorer with 15 points.

Siena Heights will return to action on Wednesday with a 6 p.m. WHAC contest versus Michigan-Dearborn.
