Parker Leads Saints to Comeback Win Over Rochester

ADRIAN, Mich. – Sha'Kyia Parker set a new career high in points with 31, leading the Saints to a come from behind 79-74 win.

The game was a tale of two strong quarters for each team.  The first quarter saw Rochester jump out to a 17-13 lead while the Saints battled back in the second quarter to close the gap to a one point, 37-36 deficit at the half.  In the second quarter, Peyton Banks and Parker scored 21 of the Saints' 23 points with Banks going 5-6 from the floor and Parker going 4-7.

The third quarter saw a 24-15 advantage for Rochester who forced seven Saints' turnovers in the quarter.  The fourth quarter saw Parker outscore the entire Rochester team with 15 points to only 13 points for the Warriors.  The Saints come back turn a ten point deficit into a five point victory.

On the game, the Saints held an advantage in field goal percentage 46.2% to 35.5% including a 50% clip from three point land compared to 19% for the Warriors.  The Saints held a 47-36 rebound advantage, but had a turnover margin of -13 with Rochester having only 11 turnovers on the game compared to the Saints 24.

Parker led all scorers with 31 points on the night, surpassing her previous career high of 30 points.  Banks added 12 points in limited action with E'Anna Won adding 11 points and Eva Alcock adding 10.  Kayla Hinton led the team in rebounds with 9, Won led the team with six assists.  Won had a team high four blocks with Parker adding three blocks, Won also led the way with two steals.

Coach Sue Syljebeck had this to say, "I though Shaq stepped up again in crunch time for us with the absence of Banks in the last quarter.  However, E'Anna Won's defense was the spark plug to help us claw our way back into the game in the fourth quarter."

With the win, the Saints move to 9-2 on the season and 5-1 in the WHAC.  They will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Cornerstone for a 1 pm tip off.
