ADRIAN, MICH. - The Siena Heights Women's Basketball team held off a tough battle by Lourdes in their home opener to remain undefeated, winning by a score of 81-75.

Sha'kyia Parker continued her hot start to the season scoring a game high 23 points.  Peyton Banks added 22 of her own along with 13 rebounds for a double-double on the night.  Kayla Hinton chipped in an additional 15 points while Allye Minor led the team with seven assists.  E'Anna Won had nine points for the Saints off the bench.

The game saw seven lead changes in a back and forth first quarter, with a layup by Parker giving the Saints a slim one point lead at the buzzer in the first.  The second quarter was all Siena Heights, outscoring Lourdes 24-10 creating an 11 point halftime cushion.  Lourdes stormed back in the third quarter with a 25-13 run in the first eight minutes of the quarter to retake the lead at 60-59.  Their lead increased to a eight point lead with just under five minutes left in the game.  Over the next three minutes of play, Siena Heights went on a 11-0 run to retake the lead 76-73 before Lourdes would score again.  A 5-0 run after Lourdes pulled within one with 1:33 left on the clock secured the win for the Saints.

The Saints shot 44.8% from the floor and outscored their opponents 36-28 in the paint.  A 41-34 rebound edge including a 10-7 offensive rebounding edge provided some advantage to secure the win.

Coach Sue Syljebeck had this to say, "Our offense is pretty good when we move the ball.  We just have to come out with a little more grit defensively.  Down the stretch, we certainly stepped it up."
