FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Siena Heights women's basketball team defeated No. 24 Indiana Tech, 77-74, on the road Wednesday night. The victory was the first at Tech (4-2, 0-1 WHAC) since 2017

Sha'kyia Parker was the star for Siena Heights (3-0, 1-0 WHAC) as she netted a game-high 28 points on 11-17 shooting from the floor. Parker asl registered five rebounds, three assists, and three steals on the night. Allye Minor scored 17 points on 50% shooting. Peyton Banks had 13 points, along with a game-high eight rebounds. Kayla Hinton tallied 12 points in her first game at Indiana Tech since transferring.

Hinton got things going with the first basket of the game before Minor hit a three-point jumper a few possessions later that sparked a 10-0 run that gave SHU a 12-5 lead with just under five minutes remaining in the opening period. Seven-straight points by Parker was followed by a three from Banks, and the Saints led 22-7 as the first quarter came to a close.

The Saints clung to a double-digit lead for the first five minutes of the second quarter before an 8-0 run by the Warriors cut the lead to 34-29 with 3:16 left in the half. Parker put Siena back up 10 with a layup in the final two minutes, but Indiana Tech got the last two buckets of the first half to trail 39-32 at the break.

The score remained close throughout the third quarter until a 5-0 run by the Warriors gave them their first lead, 48-47, since early in the first quarter. The lead changed hands three more times before a 54-52 SHU lead moved into the final quarter.

Another five lead changes later, and the score was knotted up at 70 in the final two minutes of regulation. Parker hit a layup to take the advantage, only to have a three-point jumper from Tech swipe it back on the ensuing possession. Banks made a layup to recapture the advantage, 74-73 before Hinton made a layup through contact and added the and-one for a 77-73 lead with just 13 ticks on the clock. A 1-for-2 effort from the line for Tech ended the scoring as the Saints held on to complete the win and go to 1-0 to start play in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.
