Saints Finish Blue Devil Classic with Two Wins

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Siena Heights women's basketball team starts the new campaign with two wins after a 97-63 defeat of Grace Christian on the final day of the Blue Devil Classic. Sha'kyia Parker led the way with 26 points on 11-17 shooting from the floor. She also had five assists, four rebounds, and three steals on the night.

Peyton Banks scored 22 points while hauling in five rebounds and dishing four assists. Kayla Hinton scored 10 points and had five rebounds. Brooke Rebman tallied double-digit points off the bench with 10. Allye Minor had a game-high eight assists and eight rebounds along with eight points in the winning effort.

The Saints dominated down low with 42 points in the paint and held a 16-6 edge in fastbreak points. SHU finished the night with 50.7% shooting from the floor and making 11 three-point jumpers. Siena Heights also pulled down 52 rebounds as a team.

Despite the large margin in the final score, the Tigers led 24-22 at the end of the first quarter. However, SHU made 11-straight points in the second quarter to pull ahead, 37-26, and never looked back on the way to a 47-37 lead at the half.

That margin grew in the third stanza as Siena Heights built a 22-point advantage and cruised to the win.
