ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team shutdown Madonna's offense in a 52-31 win over the Crusaders inside the SHU Fieldhouse on Wednesday night. The Saints (16-5, 8-3 WHAC) are on a three-game winning streak, with each win coming with double-digit margins of victory.

Peyton Banks was the leading scorer for Siena Heights as she finished with 11 points and eight rebounds in the contest. Sha'kyia Parker scored 10 points on 5-11 shooting in the winning effort. Jillian Gelso shot 3-6 for the game to score eight points to contribute to the Saints bench that outscored Madonna 21-10. E'Anna Won finished with a team-high 11 rebounds and four assists on the night.

The Saints started the game with a 10-3 run that spanned the first 7:06 of the first quarter. Madonna made just two of the first ten field goal attempts during that stretch. A layup and a three-point jumper for the Crusaders made up a 5-0 run that cut the SHU lead to 10-8 with just one second remaining. A technical foul by Madonna gave Siena Heights two free throws to end the opening quarter with a 12-8 advantage.

The second quarter saw the Saints move through a 13-0 run that consumed the first 6:11 of the quarter. Much the same as the first, Madonna missed its first six shot attempts before scoring the first bucket of the second quarter at the 3:19 mark. The Crusaders would score the final four points before halftime to put the score at 28-15, SHU, during the intermission.

The Siena defense continued to stymy Madonna as a 15-2 run by the home team occurred during the first 8:07 of the third frame. The only field goal by the visitors happened with 66 seconds remaining as the quarter ended with the Saints allowing just 19 points.

SHU's fourth quarter was mop-up time as the margin continued to grow up to its peak of 29 points, 48-19, during the first minute of the final 10-minutes.
