Peyton Banks Adds NAIA Second-Team All-America to Accolades

KANSAS CITY – Siena Heights junior Peyton Banks was named second-team All-America by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) on Thursday (March 25) afternoon.

Banks adds this award to an already fantastic junior campaign where she has compiled several awards. The first came when she became just the 12th Siena Heights women's basketball player to hit the 1,000 career-point milestone. She followed that performance with a second-consecutive Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Year award as well as a First-Team All-WHAC selection. This past Monday (March 22) she became just the fifth SHU women's basketball player to earn WBCA All-America Honorable Mention.

The Wadsworth, Ohio native also led all National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) women's basketball players in free throw percentage (.931) while also falling 19th in 3-point field-goal percentage (.442).

"Peyton has been an integral part of our team since her freshman year," said SHU women's basketball head coach Sue Syljebeck. "Her ability to play any position on the floor is a big reason why she is named amongst the best players in the NAIA."

What makes this year's NAIA All-America selection most impressive, is the fact that this was the first year that NAIA women's basketball was only one division. Proving that this season, Banks is among the 20 best NAIA women's college basketball players in the country.

The 2020-21 NAIA Women's Basketball All-America consists of three teams of 10 members each and an honorable mention team. The selections were made by the All-America Committee.
