ADRIAN, Mich. – The Siena Heights women's basketball team fell to visiting Lawrence Tech, 66-57, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action on Sunday afternoon. Kelsey Wyman (Blissfield, Mich.) recorded 14 points to lead the Saints on the afternoon.

THE BASICS

Final Scores: Lawrence Tech 66, Siena Heights 57

Location: Adrian, Michigan (SHU Fieldhouse)

Records: Lawrence Tech (5-6, 3-3 WHAC), Siena Heights (6-3, 3-2 WHAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Both teams kept things close in the first quarter. The Blue Devils held the largest lead of the quarter at the 6:27 mark with a 5-2 advantage. Wyman hit a trey that knotted things up a five apiece. Lawrence Tech held a slim advantage throughout the quarter, but the Saints battled back to tie the score four times. A layup by Wyman with one tick left on the clock saw Siena Heights take a 13-11 advantage into the second quarter.

Much like the first quarter, the second period saw neither team pull away by more than one possession. Like the opening quarter, there were four tie scores in second. The Blue Devils held a one-point lead with 1:04 remaining in the half, but Allye Minor (Bryan, Ohio) made a layup with 54 seconds remaining to give the Saints a 24-23 lead at the intermission.

The game remained a dead heat into the third quarter, again with neither team being able to gain much of an advantage. Lawrence Tech was able to build a five-point cushion with a three-point jumper by Teryn Kline at 4:32. E'Anna Won (Wadsworth, Ohio) responded in kind with a three to cut the LTU advantage to two points. Kline made a second three at 3:33 to recapture a five-point advantage. Peyton Banks (Wadsworth, Ohio) made a pair of free throws and Minor sank a layup to cut the deficit to 41-39 with 2:15 left in the quarter. Another three for Won gave the Saints a 42-41 lead and forced LTU to stop play with a timeout. Each team would make one layup before the buzzer sounded to end the third as SHU led 44-43.

The Blue Devils started the fourth quarter with an 8-0 run to pull ahead 51-44 with 6:59 remaining in regulation. Banks and Wyman each made a pair of free throws to bring Siena within three points of tying the score, 54-51, with just under three minutes to go. Kendall Fisher made two pairs of free throws that gave the Blue Devils a 58-53 lead before Kline hit a big three-point jumper that extended the advantage to eight points, the largest lead of the game. The Saints' efforts fell short and LTU held on to take the win.
