Saints Pull Away to Extend Winning Streak Over Lourdes to 19

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Siena Heights women's basketball team extended its winning streak to 19 games over Lourdes in a 90-65 win in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play on Wednesday night. Kelsey Wyman hit her final 12 shots of the game to net a career-high 29 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Allye Minor (Bryan, Ohio) scored the first points of the game with a shot drilled from beyond the arc that sparked a 10-2 run for the Saints at 5:45 of the first quarter. Minor accounted for eight of the 10 points in the opening run. Lourdes responded with a 6-0 run that cut the SHU lead to just two points, 10-8, with 2:44 remaining in the opening period. Minor struck again with a layup that ignited a Saints 7-0 run that extended the Siena Heights advantage to 17-8. A three-point jumper by E'Anna Won (Wadsworth, Ohio) ended the first quarter with a 20-11 lead for Siena Heights.

Peyton Banks (Wadsworth, Ohio) opened the second quarter with a three-pointer that started a 5-0 run for SHU in the opening minute. Kelsey Wyman (Blissfield, Mich.) took over play in the second quarter as she shot 7-7 for 15 points as she helped the Saints pull away from the Grey Wolves. The lead sat at 23 points before four straight points by Lourdes to end the half at the score at 48-29 as the teams entered the locker room at the intermission.

Banks drilled a three to push the Saint lead to 22 in the opening two minutes of the second half. Wyman followed suit with a layup on the next possession as Siena Heights held a 53-29 advantage. A three-point jumper started an 11-0 run for Lourdes that cut the SHU edge to 16 points, 61-45, with 3:03 remaining in the third quarter. Another 5-0 run by the Grey Wolves to end the period lowered the margin by 13 points (63-50) as the game moved into the final period.

A three-pointer by Wyman extended the lead to 20 points, 72-52 with just over 6:45 remaining in regulation. Lourdes continued to battle, but the Saints proved to be too much as a layup by Shelby Morrow (Flushing, Mich.) with 11 seconds remaining sealed the 90-65 win for Siena Heights.

TOP SAINTS

Wyman added two rebounds, four assists, and a steal to her game-high 29 points.

Banks finished 6-12 from the floor for 20 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Minor scored 17 points, six rebounds, and four assists in the winning effort.

Sha'kyia Parker (Grand Rapids, Mich.) led the Saints with six assists and had the team's only block.

THE OPPOSITION

• Gabby Stover led the Grey Wolves with a double-double, 15 points, and 11 rebounds.

• Shae Pedroza and Kailani Broyles each scored 11 points for Lourdes.
