Five Saints Score in Double-Figures as Women's Basketball Defeats Lourdes in WHAC Contest

SYLVANIA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team traveled to take on Lourdes (Ohio) in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest. The Saints walked away with the 84-79 victory and their third straight win. 

The third quarter is where the Saints (16-11, 9-8 WHAC) were able to gain some separation after entering halftime tied at 29 points. By the end of the third, SHU had gained a five point advantage, opening it up to nine a couple times in the fourth, and were able to hold off Lourdes to bring home the win. 

Siena Heights finished the contest 24-55 (43.6%) from the field, 4-15 (26.7%) from three and the difference in the game was at the free throw line where the Saints had 40 attempts from the stripe, cashing in on 32 (80%). Lourdes on the otherhand, had just 20 attempts, making 14 (70%). Lourdes completed the game 27-72 (37.5%) from the floor and 11-31 (35.5%).

Clara Waidley led SHU in scoring with a career high of 22 points. Four other Saints scored in double-figures -- Demi Russell with 14 points, Taylar McNeal with 12 points, Azalea Miller with ten points and six assists and Addyson Tomczak with ten points, seven rebounds and three steals. Alyssa Larson finished with a team high 11 rebounds.

Lourdes (8-16, 2-14 WHAC) was led by Tatyana Reynolds with 23 points. Tiera Thomas grabbed a team high five rebounds while Christiana Jefferson dished out six assists. 

Next up, the Saints will head to Rochester for a WHAC contest on Wednesday, Feb. 7. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
