Women's Basketball Defeats Northwestern Ohio in WHAC Play

LIMA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team faced off against Northwestern Ohio in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday. The Saints walked away with a 73-64 victory.

After the first quarter, the Saints (18-7, 11-6 WHAC) had the lead by one point, and were able to open up the lead to seven going into halftime, with a score of 36-29. 

By the end of the third period, SHU had increased their lead to nine points and held on for the victory from there. 

April Watson led the Saints with 19 points and six rebounds. Clara Waidley added 18 points while Sharmaine Wills led Siena Heights on the glass with eight rebounds and eight points. 

For the Racers (10-13, 8-7 WHAC), Sogona Sidibe finished with 18 points and five rebounds. Shatisha Dukes contributed 14 points. 

Siena Heights shot 46.2% (24-52) from the field, 40% (8-20) from three and 50% (17-34) from the free throw line. Northwestern Ohio was 41.1% (23-56) from the floor, 33.3% (3-9) from behind the arc and 88.2% (15-17) from the charity stripe.

The Saints will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 4, when they host Madonna in the annual Pink Game. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
